Clipper Group Buys Cape Twins

Clipper Group has acquired the 4,954 GT, 226-berth sister ships Cape Cod Light and Cape May Light from the US Maritime Administration (Marad) for $9 million each. Pride of Aloha to Leave NCL America Fleet

NCL has announced that Pride of Aloha will leave its US-flag NCL America fleet on 11 May 2008. The ship will be reflagged and will move to the Star Cruises fleet for cruising in Asia. (Star Cruises owns 50% of NCL.)

Delta Queen in The New York Times

Today’s issue of The New York Times features an article about Majestic America Line’s 81-year old Delta Queen, set to be retired after her 2008 season due to Congress’ refusal to continue her exemption to the Safety at Sea Act of 1966, which would ban her due to her wooden superstructure.

Star Cruises Shareholders Approve Apollo Deal

Farewell Delta Queen

Majestic America Line announced today that the 81-year old Delta Queen will retire in 2008. Congress has decided not to renew the exemption that allows the boat to operate despite the fact that her wooden superstructure does not comply with safety regulations.
