Silversea’s New Ship Named Silver Spirit

Silversea Cruises has announced that its new ship under construction will be named Silver Spirit. Being built at Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard, the 36,000 GT, 540-berth will enter service in autumn 2009.

Prince Albert II: Silversea’s New Expedition Ship

Silversea Cruises has announced details of its new expedition ship, Prince Albert II. Built in 1989 as Delfin Clipper and most recently in service as World Discoverer, the 6,072 GT ship will emerge from a major refit at Fincantieri’s Trieste shipyard with 132 berths. World Discoverer to Become Silver Dawn; Sail in Tahiti from 2009

Seatrade Insider reports that the 6,072 GT, 1989-built World Discoverer, recently bought by Silversea Cruises, will be renamed Silver Dawn. The ship is expected to enter service in May 2008 after a major refurbishment at Fincantieri in Trieste, where the ship was recently brought after years of lay-up in Singapore.

Silversea Acquires World Discoverer - UPDATED

Refits, Expedition Ships for Silversea

Seatrade Insider reports that at a media event in Sydney, Silversea Cruises‘ Amerigo Perasso announced that the company’s two oldest ships, Silver Cloud and Silver Wind, will receive extensive refits. Silver Wind will be drydocked for a month in October 2008, and Cloud will be drydocked in April 2009.
