Delta Queen in The New York Times

Today’s issue of The New York Times features an article about Majestic America Line’s 81-year old Delta Queen, set to be retired after her 2008 season due to Congress’ refusal to continue her exemption to the Safety at Sea Act of 1966, which would ban her due to her wooden superstructure.

Farewell Delta Queen

Majestic America Line announced today that the 81-year old Delta Queen will retire in 2008. Congress has decided not to renew the exemption that allows the boat to operate despite the fact that her wooden superstructure does not comply with safety regulations.
