Silversea Cruises has announced that its new ship under construction will be named Silver Spirit. Being built at Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard, the 36,000 GT, 540-berth will enter service in autumn 2009.
The ship’s interiors are being designed by Italian architect Giacomo Mortola, unlike previous Silversea ships, which have been designed by Yran & Storbraaten. Silver Spirit [...]

World Discoverer to Become Silver Dawn; Sail in Tahiti from 2009
Seatrade Insider reports that the 6,072 GT, 1989-built World Discoverer, recently bought by Silversea Cruises, will be renamed Silver Dawn. The ship is expected to enter service in May 2008 after a major refurbishment at Fincantieri in Trieste, where the ship was recently brought after years of lay-up in Singapore.

Carlson Sells Regent to Apollo; Regent and Oceania Form Prestige Cruise Holdings
Carlson Companies has sold Regent Seven Seas Cruises to private-equity firm Apollo Management. Apollo purchased a majority interest in Oceania Cruises in January, and the two brands will form a new company called Prestige Cruise Holdings (PCH).
