Le Ponant Hijacked by Pirates off Somalia

CMA-CGM subsidiary Compagnie des Iles du Ponant’s Le Ponant has been seized by pirates off the coast of Somalia. The ship was on a repositioning voyage with about 30 crew and no passengers on board. Her next cruise with passengers is scheduled to depart on 22 April from Alexandria.

Two New Ships for Compagnie des Iles du Ponant

Compagnie des Iles du Ponant, the cruise subsidiary of CMA CGM, has ordered two new ships from Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard. The new ships are both slated to enter service in 2010. One will sail to Asia, Alaska and Oceania while the other will visit South America and the Mediterranean.
