No Newbuilds for Azamara?

According to a reliable industry source, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. has formally withdrawn from negotiations with several major European shipyards to build new ships for its Azamara Cruises brand. The poor financial performance of the Azamara brand was cited as the reason.

No Bermuda Future for Celebrity

An interview with Celebrity and Azamara president Dan Hanrahan posted on the Travel Weekly web site yesterday cast doubt on rumors that the line might return to Bermuda with a Century-class ship in 2009 or 2010 after Hamilton’s waterfront revitalization project (which will allow larger ships) is completed.

Azamara Quest Delayed
