According to AFP, the French government has established contact with the Compagnie des Iles du Ponant cruise ship Le Ponant, which was hijacked by pirates on Friday off the coast of Somalia with only crew on board. The ship’s crew of 22 French nationals and about 10 Ukrainians is reportedly safe. The French government says it will not intervene militarily unless the safety of the crew can be guaranteed.
