Tahitian Princess to Be Renamed Ocean Princess

Princess Cruises has announced that Tahitian Princess will be renamed Ocean Princess in November 2009 to reflect her new global itineraries. The 30,277 GT ship was built in 1999 as Renaissance Cruises’ R Four and joined the Princess fleet in 2002. Originally based in Tahiti, she has recently ventured farther afield. Together with Pacific Princess (ex R Three) and Royal Princess (ex R Eight, Minerva II), she is marketed as one of the “Small Ships of Princess” and operates some of the line’s longest and most exotic itineraries.

She will be the second Princess ship to bear the name Ocean Princess. The first Ocean Princess was a 77,499 GT, 1,950-berth Sun Princess-class ship built in 2000, and has been part of sister company P&O Cruises‘ fleet as Oceana since 2002.
