The End of Orient Lines

Last Sunday, Orient Lines completed its last cruise, ending nearly 15 years of operation. Marco Polo arrived in Lisbon after a 21-night cruise from Rio de Janiero.

The ship was handed over to her new owners, Global Maritime, and will enter service on a charter to Transocean Tours on 19 April with a cruise to the Norwegian Fjords from London (Tilbury).

The 22,080 GT, 826-berth ship, built in 1965 as Alexander Pushkin, operated for Orient Lines ever since the line’s first voyage in November 1993. Orient Lines, founded by entrepreneur Gerry Herrod and owned by NCL since 1998, also operated Crown Odyssey, now Fred. Olsen Cruise LinesBalmoral, from 2000 to 2003.
