Fred. Olsen Cancels Balmoral Inagural

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has cancelled the 30 January inaugural voyage of Balmoral.

The former Crown Odyssey/Norwegian Crown has just completed a lengthening and major refit at Blohm & Voss in Hamburg, which increased the 1988-built vessel from 1,052 to 1,340 berths and from 34,242 GT to about 43,000.

The company already cancelled inaugural activities for the ship that were scheduled to take place in Dover from 25 to 29 January. Due to technical problems with the ship, the company has now had to cancel the 30 January cruise to the Canary Islands. It says the next cruise, leaving for the Caribbean on 13 February, will depart on schedule.

All passengers are being ‘fully compensated’.
