Seatrade Insider reports that the 6,072 GT, 1989-built World Discoverer, recently bought by Silversea Cruises, will be renamed Silver Dawn. The ship is expected to enter service in May 2008 after a major refurbishment at Fincantieri in Trieste, where the ship was recently brought after years of lay-up in Singapore.

According to the report, the ship’s capacity will be reduced from 175 to 132 berths, among other improvements, and she is expected to operate in both polar regions before repositioning to Tahiti in 2009 following an agreement recently made between Silversea and the government of French Polynesia.
