Carlson Companies has sold Regent Seven Seas Cruises to private-equity firm Apollo Management. Apollo purchased a majority interest in Oceania Cruises in January, and the two brands will form a new company called Prestige Cruise Holdings (PCH). Oceania CEO Frank Del Rio will become CEO of PCH; Oceania and Regent will maintain their own independent management with Oceania president Bob Binder and Regent president Mark Conroy reporting to Del Rio. The companies will retain their separate headquarters, Oceania’s in Miami and Regent’s in Ft. Lauderdale. No changes are anticipated to either brand. The Regent brand name will continue to be used both on PCH’s cruise ships and on Carlson-owned hotels and resorts, with a brand council composed of representatives from both companies setting standards for the brand.

NCL, in which Apollo recently purchased a 50% interest, will remain separate from PCH.
