Clipper Group and ISP Take Delivery of Clipper Pearl

Danish shipowner Clipper Group and its partner, Miami-based International Shipping Partners, have taken delivery of the Clipper Pearl, the former Dream, Dream Princess, Sundream and Song of Norway. The 22,945 GT, 1,258 passenger ship was built in 1970 for Royal Caribbean and lengthened in 1978. According to the company’s statement (pdf here) ship has repositioned to Turkey where it will be refurbished over the next four to five months before being available for charter in April or May 2008.

Clipper Group largely operates in the bulk carrier industry, but since 2005 it has been investing in cruise ships, of which it now owns nine. It considers its cruise ship investments “passive”; all its cruise ships are managed by International Shipping Partners.
