While speculation continues about whether Regent Seven Seas Cruises has been sold to private equity firm Apollo Management, Seatrade Insider reports that the company has been preparing plans for a new ship.
According to the report, the new ship would be similar to 700-berth, 48,075 GT Seven Seas Mariner, delivered from Chantiers de l’Atlantique (now part of Aker Yards) in 2010. The article quotes Regent EVP Christian Saleau as saying that the vessel would be “of the same class and size as Mariner … but offer more alternative dining, a larger and more elaborate spa and some quite innovative features”, and would enter service in mid-2010.
