According to articles in Seatrade Insider and Travel Weekly, Star Clippers is preparing to build a fourth ship.
The new five-masted vessel, based on the design of the 1902-built France II, the longest sailing ship ever built, would surpass Star Clippers’ current flagship Royal Clipper as the world’s largest full-rigged sailing ship.
Star Clippers hopes for a Spring 2010 delivery and plans to announce the name and yard of the ship soon.
New features will include a two-deck, single-seating dining room and the company’s first diesel-electric power plant.
