Polaris on Cruise Critic

And now we go from a huge ship that’s not even finished yet yesterday to a tiny one that’s well into her fifth decade!

Lately Cruise Critic has been featuring a lot of fairly unusual ships and this continues with a great review of Lindblad ExpeditionsPolaris by my friend Ben Lyons. When he’s not working as a deck officer on QM2 he always to find interesting ships to sail in on his spare time (and to interesting places, too) and it sounds as though Polaris is no exception. A tiny 47-year-old ship with an interesting history, she’s just the kind of ship I find most interesting and appealing.

I’ve heard rumors that she may be retired and replaced by something more modern; let’s hope not, as she sounds like a lot of fun and I wouldn’t mind trying her someday!

You can read Ben’s review here. And (and I’m not kissing up to Cruise Critic for more assignments; I’m really not!) kudos to Cruise Critic for investing in reviews of ships like these that most people will never actually sail in but which sure make for more interesting reading than the latest mega-liner.
