Discovery World Cruises Name Change

Today Voyages of Discovery’s US subsidiary announced that it has officially changed its name from Discovery World Cruises to Voyages of Discovery in keeping with the identity of its parent company. According to Mark Flager, vice president of sales, marketing and passenger services, “This is a long-planned step following our acquisition in 2005 by All Leisure Group. We’ll now be recognized as one brand worldwide.”

Voyages of Discovery was an established firm in the UK that chartered Discovery during the summer from her newly-formed owners, Discovery World Cruises, from that ship’s entry into service as such back in 2003. Meanwhile, Discovery World Cruises itself marketed the ship during the winter season.

In 2005 Voyages of Discovery’s parent company All Leisure Group plc purchased Discovery World Cruises and Discovery. Since then all cruises have been available both through Voyages of Discovery in the UK and Discovery World Cruises in the US, but the branding remained separate in each country.
