P&O Cruises‘ latest ship, Ventura, floated for the first time yesterday at Fincantieri’s Monfalcone shipyard.
At 115,000 GT the ship, based on Princess‘ successful Grand-class design, will be the largest cruise ship ever built for the British market. (Interestingly, P&O prefers “superliner” to the American “mega-ship”.) With art from the Tate Modern, food from Marco Pierre White and Noddy to keep the kids happy, the ship promises the ultimate contemporary mass-market British cruise experience.
For more details see the press release here and be sure not to miss Virtual Ventura, the ship’s own specially-designed web site full of renderings, videos, and photos of the ship under construction.
