One of the first generation of mega-ships, Monarch, like her sisters Sovereign and Majesty of the Seas, has recently been through a major refit and her fresh, modern appearance is a testament both to the quality of her original design and the skill of Royal Caribbean in updating this modern classic.
Ideal for short cruises, the Sovereign-class ships - the oldest of which turns 20 this year - should still have many years ahead of them with Royal Caribbean.
